http://www.mcdonaldsindia.comWestern chains are all over the place and this includes India. Most Western chains are very popular and that includes McDonald's. I've always heard that McDonald's will offer several menu items unique to the region and I was curious to find out what they were and see if McDonald's is the same as the one we have.
In most McDonald's and in a certain time of the day, if your order is not ready in 1 minute, you get something free. Usually they gave you a small Coke for free.
Unfortunately McDonald's in India does not serve any
meatbeef (thanks for the catch see_lai ) so that eliminates a lot of items from their usual menu.On my first time to McDonald's I decided to try out the local special items and chose the Chicken Maharaj Mac and Wrap Paneer Salsa:
Chicken Maharaj Mac:
It looks like a Big Mac with chicken instead but it didn't taste like it. It had thing flat chicken that tasted like cardboard and an orange tangy curry sauce instead. I really didn't like the taste of the sauce or the flavorless chicken.
Wrap Paneer Salsa:
The inside of that fried thing isn't pure chicken but tasted like minced cardboard. They had a very tangy and soury red sauce that I really didn't like. Although I was hungry, I could only finish half of this wrap.
After my first bad experience I decided to stay away from the signature items and go back to the familiar like the Filet O fish:
They offer added cheese which I took for mine. It tastes just like ones you get in Canada or the USA. I also had the McChicken which tasted just like the Canada or USA versions but just a little more bright orange in color.
The highly popular Chicken McNuggets:
Although Chicken McNuggets have been available on North America's McDonald's for years, it only came out in the past month for India. They offer only 2 dipping sauces: BBQ (the US version) and mustard. This item is very popular and frequently sold out.
One of my nights I decided I haven't had a lot of vegetables in my dinner so I opt'ed for a McVeggie burger:
It's a bunch of root vegetables fried in a light batter. It's like a McChicken but thinner batter, way more fried, and a little spicy. It was alright since I finished it all without having a disgusted look on my face but I didn't have order it again.
If you're wondering, they did keep the fries tasting just like the Canada and US versions and even look the same. There just isn't a lot on the menu from McDonald's in India because they don't serve beef. They have many India specific options and the ones they have taste bad. However bad they were, I had McDonald's almost every evening after work because it was right across the street, it was fast, and it didn't unsettle my stomach for the night.
