http://www.littlecaesars.caBack in the late-80s, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were all the rage and made pizza more popular than ever. There were 4 big pizza chains in Toronto: Pizza Pizza, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, and Dominos (that's all I could remember when I was a kid). Somehow pizza has lost it's desirability. Possibly from being too much associated to the time and cash-strapped student life or the food for kids, there are not as many pizza restaurants as before. But in the heydays of pizza, my favorite from the chains was Little Caesars with its fresh tomato sauce, oven baked, and fresh ingredients.
I haven't had a Little Caesars pizza for a long time so it was time to travel back in time:
There are a lot fewer Little Caesars now so I had to drive 15 minutes to find this one.
Looks just like it always has. As you can see there are so many deals - none of them are featured on the web site and they don't tell you on the phone.
There's no seating so you have to take out.
A Cheeser! Cheeser! pizza with mushrooms and Italian sausage:
As you can tell, it doesn't look like there's a lot of cheese and it didn't taste like a lot of cheese either.
10 Wings with barbeque and honey garlic sauce on the side:
Both sauces can warm. The honey garlic sauce was a lot better than the bland barbeque sauce. Wings were small but hot, crispy, and too overcooked. 10 small wings for $7.99 is expensive.
A Supreme! Supreme! pizza:
Hands down this was the better pizza. More is better and this tasted better with more toppings than the Cheeser. I think it was because the crust is not as hot, soft, and fresh as I remembered it was long ago.
I got the special of 2 large pizzas for $20. I was thinking it was a good deal when I was ordering on the phone but as I'm writing this I realize how it's high for just pizza. Now on to the pizza, the tomato sauce is still fresh, the toppings are still fresh and good tasting, but the crust was not so fresh and really brought down the overall taste of the pizza. The wings were a good break from the pizza. I could only take 2 pizza slices in a row before I was bored with the taste. Having been spoiled by New York pizza and fresh mozerella such as those from Grimaldi's Pizza, I find it hard to recommend Little Caesars to anyone but for kids.
