Over a weekend I took a trip to Chicago with friends.  I've heard a bit about Chicago and as a traveller I've also been told to avoid stopping over in Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD) as there are always delays from Chicago's crosswinds.  But seeing Chicago is a different story.

Chicago has an impressive subway system:

Chicago has a lot of interesting architecture and large scale art displays like the bean:

    It's really called Cloud Gate.

I have a friend who lives in Chicago so I met up with him and his wife for dinner on our second night.  They brough us to one of their favorite restaurants.  And it's only a few blocks from their place!

A bright interior with a young casual crowd:

Even at late nights there are a lot of people here.  They even make bubble tea here.

    Fresh Lichee freeze with tapioca:

Chicken fried rice in a pineapple:

Shrimp String Bean (We saw another table order this so we asked for the same thing so I can't remember the name):

    Thai Spicy Spaghetti with chicken:

    Malaysian Spicy Ong Toy:

It just a hint of spicy - good for mixing with rice.  It wasn't overly oily or drenched in sauce.  It came out just as you'd expect.  No old pieces and not stringy.

The food was pipping hot when they got to our table.  Even with the all the tables filled, they managed to serve our first dish within 10 minutes after we put our order in with the waitress.  Most of their dishes are priced around $9-10 which si very reasonable for the amount and quality of the dishes.  The food is great but their bubble tea is great too!  It's too bad that didn't don't put a lot of tapioca but the fresh lychee is really flavorful and had just the right balance of juice and water.  Most of their drinks are $3.25 for small so it's reasonable priced compared to what I'm use to in Toronto.  This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago and a must visit when you're in town!  Although this sounds like an EBay feedback I stand behind this: I highly recommend!

I think this is the first time I have seen a place rated a 4! Chicago looks pretty cool, I would love to check it out someday.

@thinkwinkpink oh yeah, they have a lot of things on their menu.  It's good I had a friend who's been to Joy Yee a couple times.  It's still not as big as the Cheesecake Factory menus

@professionalHate I've been to a lot of mediocre places lately.  Chicago is really nice.  I wish it rained less tho

@stevew918 it's definitely worth visiting in the summer.  Not sure about the winter tho.

@see_lai food is good here!  My friend showed me a couple other good restaurants that I'm going to blog about in the next couple weeks
