http://www.eatatlowells.comSeattle's Pike Place Market is a popular tourist spot. I don't think there's anything else in Seattle is busier than this place. It's true we do all eat and I'm sure a lot of people enjoy eating like people who visit my blog
. So it's expected to be a popular destination. Unlike Tsukiji fish market in Japan, Pike Place Market isn't a real fish market so you won't see any fishing trawlers or much live fish. But it is a farmers market so you'll find various fruits, vegetables, and some fish on ice.
One of the more popular restaurant in Pike Place Market is Lowell's. They face the waterfront so be sure to check out the second floor:
Very cramped interior with cheap tables and chairs:
The stairs up to the second floor is narrow both the stairway and the steps so be careful.
Clam Chowder in a Sourdough Bread Bowl:
The clams had sand and it was fairly watery. The bread was hard and not fresh. They say it's famous but I say people just get it because they're close to the Pacific Ocean and expect good clam chowder. I was disappointed for $8. It's on par with Chunky's Clam Chowder.
Fish and Chips - Alaskan cod:
A lot of batter and the batter was hard. There isn't much fish inside. The fries and fish came out cold. It's also labelled as Lowell's famous, but it's probably a bad kind of famous since it was a real disappointment for $12.
Service was slow, the food was mediocre, and the restaurant interior was dark and cheap. The only thing that saved it was the great view of the blue water, clear sky, and lots of sun. If it's not a sunny day and you can't get a window seat, I don't recommend coming here. I definitely don't recommend intentionally making a trip to Pike Place Market to eat here.
