Seafood Delight Chinese Cuisine
8425 Woodbine Ave.
Markham ON L3R 2P4
905-415-8939Yes, it's another Chinese restaurant but I haven't tried this one yet. Sitting beside the very busy Tiger Direct computer store, Seafood Delight has a very small front parking area with more along the side and rear of the restaurant. There isn't a lot of immediate Chinese restaurants but it's close enough to Highway 7 that a short 15 minutes brings you to a wealth of them. So can Seafood Delight compete against the rest of them?
Not a very classy exterior left me with a "I hope it's better than it looks" feeling.
A typical open area Chinese restaurant:
We came early on Saturday night so it was very quiet. They use too many white florescent lights so doesn't make the restaurant interior look good. They should dim it slightly and use slightly yellower bulbs.
Beef and mushroom hot pot:
Very tasty with very little extra corn starch included. Mushrooms were fresh and bouncy. Beef was on the sweet side and fairly thin and narrow. The green onion gave the dish a good lighter taste. It's a great dish to mix with rice.
Chicken and Jellyfish:
Moist chicken with soft jelly fish. The chicken in this dish is warm. I think most restaurants serve the pre-packaged jelly fish, very rarely are they fresh and this case is no exception.
The food was a lot better than the look of the restaurant. I didn't get to taste a lot of different dishes but the ones I had were very comparable to other Chinese restaurants and the price was a little lower. I would probably come to this restaurant again with family but I don't think I'd come here for a dinner date.
