Some people say the best tasting restaurants are hole in the walls or hidden away from the busy main streets.  I've had some really good restaurants in tourist places like Sushi Dai in Tsukiji Fish Market or North 44 on Yonge street. But I've had some jems that were out of the way like Perry's.  But I don't think I've had a place that tasted really good but look really bad fare really well in my reviews.  Maybe this will be Lion City will be the restaurant that will change that:

A hasily put up sign greets customers.

    A very plain interior:

From my experiences, I was waiting for some cockroach to run across the floor but it never happened.  The ground was fairly clean but I didn't trust the cleanliness of the "pour your own" tea or water equipment.

    Chicken and cucumber:

The chicken was very tender and moist with a light water based sweet sauce.

    Tong Choy:

The sauce was slightly spicy and very flavourful.  This was a great dish to mix with rice.

Each dish was around $7 so our dinner was very cheap.  The food quality is a lot better than the look of the restaurant.  Although the food was good, I find it hard to recommend friends come here as it's a little crappy looking but if you've been living in Dallas for a while and need a change of pace then I recommend this Chinese restaurant.
