  • Great China

I had previously reviewed from some authetic ethnic restaurants in Texas.  Now is the time to bring it back to the fake stuff like Pei Wei so I'm reviewing Great China:

Chinese letters at the front makes it look like real Chinese stuff.

The front had a lot of typical Chinese decorations like dragons and red all over.  Too bad I took a picture of the back where you don't see any of that stuff:

You can a bit of a "Chinese" painting on the left along with red table cloth.

    Fried wonton:

Nothing unusual.  I don't normally order these at Chinese restaurants but it's yummy.

    Beef cashew with veggies:

This is great to mix with rice.

    Shrimps in seafood sauce:

There really isn't anything in the seafood sauce except egg whites and starch.  This was a very flavorless dish.

One of us wanted to be smart and order in Cantonese.  Too bad the waitress didn't speak or understand Chinese since she was Vietnamese.  On the menu, there was the option to add or remove Monosodium glutamate (MSG).  We all asked for no MSG and joked about why anyone would ask for MSG.  The waitress mentioned there was this one guy who actually ordered extra extra MSG.  After tasting the bland food, I can see why people would ask for MSG.  Great China was quiet.  The appetizers were alright while the main dishes were very bad.  The chicken dishes were all fried like those in Orange Chicken.  I wouldn't recommend coming here for anything remotely Chinese.
