Sunshine City
Sunshine City
Ikebukuro, Tokyo, JapanSunshine City is a large mall with a mix of residential, business, and retail outlets. The top floor was reserved for a multitude of restaurants. But from all those I only found this one interesting and we were all willing to go:
The interior is very simple and cozy:
Here are some side dishes:
Hot pot with an egg:
Fried chestnut paste and pork with salad:
There wasn't much pork but thet fried chestnut tasted a lot better than it looked. The salad had a light dressing.
The food was interesting. Some dishes turned out better than others. One of us ordered the curry dish and said it tasted really bad to the point it was unedible. The staff were very friendly with one of the ladies able to speak very fluent English.

most of the good restaurants will be like the yakitori(chicken BBQ) restaurant where you only ordered 2 things. things will come out slower but that means they are making them right then and there. Quality is the key and your not finding it. i would look for places that specialize in one thing. don't be scared to walk into small mom and pop looking shops. i mean a place that has a lot of food displayed is catering to many things and you know that isnt qulity food. good luck in your further adventures. maybe find a japanese person to give you a recommendation.
