We're near the end of our trip to Japan and we've bought a few things here and there.  It's time to visit Yokohama Bayside Marina Outlet Park to catch some of the new years specials and outlet pricing.

Lunch time quickly creeped on us so we walked around looking for something decent to eat.  We walked into a sushi restaurant that a couple friends were also eating at.  They told us it was uneatable (they're not the picky types either) so we left.  A lot of the restaurants had a long line by now so we went to the restaurant with the shortest line that we could agree on.  That was Long, a Chinese restaurant.

The interior is fairly plain with some stereotypical Chinese decorations like columns of empty alcohol jars and paintings.  Chairs and tables were simple wooden furniture:

The menus were all in Japanese so I tried to order things that had a picture.

Mushroom and bok choy with noodles:

There is a lot of corn starch in here.  The sauce is very thick.  I found myself picking out the vegetables from the sauce so I left a glob of thick corn starch in the end.  This is a very expensive dish at $12.60.

    Eggplant satay:

The egg plant was fairly hard and not soft. The added bamboo shoot was a good touch.  Flavour was overall too salty and would have been nice with rice.  At $10.50, this dish had the most value out of all that we ordered.  Too bad the quantity was a little on the low side.

    Noodles with pork:

Another dish with loads of starch.  There were very few pieces of pork.  I counted 3.  Noodles were soft but tasted like they are the instant noodle kinds.  Another high priced dish at $12.60.

    Wonton:

The wrap was very thick and chewy.  There wasn't much meat inside.  At $5.30, it was a tad on the high side for the quality.

I walked out of that restaurant feeling ripped off, spending $41 for all the above food.  I also felt really thirsty as I suspect all the satay dishes had a lot of MSG.  There was a long line up when we left but it's not because the food is good but because there wasn't many restaurant choices at the outlet mall.  I would avoid this restaurant at all cost.  Actually, I recommend just eating a crepe for lunch if you decide to come to this mall.  The line for crepes is even longer than the restaurant's.  We bought a few things at the outlet so it wasn't a complete loss.

The one with the really thick soup/sauce reminded me of the Chinese thick noodles "Lai fun", except they dont have veggie in that and A LOT cheaper!

that looks like the worst chinese restaurant ever!!! i dont do chinese in japan for many reasons. they dont do it right and it is expensive.

also i wanted to comment on MOS Burger. try that place out again just dont get the fry set. you can get soup instead of a drink and a small salad instead of the fries which could be a little better. BUT the place is known for it's high quality sandwiches!! get 2 sandwiches instead and try as many as you can. i love the pork katsu and ebi sandwich and also the spicy burger and also the....................
