It was a great weekend but it's time to say good bye to Cancun.  I am surely going to miss the clear blue ocean water and warm Gulf of Mexico breeze.  This was us snorkeling off Isla de Mujeres:

There were a few colorful fishes that swam so close you think you could touch them.  But they're smarter and faster than that so they swam away when you tried to grab them.

So on our Sunday flight departing from Cancun, I wanted to have some seafood to finish our trip.  I went to Bubba Gump because they offered free WiFi as noted on that little yellow sign at the hostess' booth.

A casual interior with flimsy chairs but the booths are a lot better:

You might have noticed the blue "Run Forrest Run" plates.  If you need service then you flip it to the red "Stop Forrest" plate, otherwise you leave it in the "Run Forrest Run" plate.  When other staff members see it, they'll try to attend to you or shout for other people to attend to you.

I used the "Stop Forrest" plate sparingly.

Forrest comes from the movie Forrest Gump.  They had a lot of movie props on display in the restaurant:

It's nice to have a themed restaurant but how was the food going to be?

Lava Flow - creamy pina-colada served with a strawberry flow:

Very strawberry.  Not too much alcohol but a good amount of taste and mixed well.  Glad it wasn't watered down.

    Fried Shrimp and Boiled Shrimp:

The fried shrimps were alright.  Nothing special but the shrimps were crispy.  The boiled shrimps were the most given of all the shrimps and they were very crispy and fresh.  They might be a bit small but they were good and worth the effort of de-shelling.

    Coconut Shrimp and hushpuppies:

The coconut shrimps were the best of all the shrimps but it was also the least with only 4.  Crispy coconut strands lightly batter the shrimp.  The hushpuppies were light and not over fried.

Based on the fictional Bubba Gump Shrimp Co mentioned by Forrest Gump in the movie, Forrest Gump, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co serves a variety of seafood dishes as well as bar type food like hamburgers.  I was very surprised by the quality of the shrimp and freshness of the dish.  The lava flow was equally impressive but a bit light on the alcohol.  The food arrived quality so it's perfect for an airport restaurant.  The only bad thing was getting our bill took a very very long time.  Having to deal with finding our server to waiting on her.  It took around 15 minutes to get the bill from when we wanted it.  Although that lowered by opinion of the restaurant, the service before was great, food is fresh both in the raw materials and cooking.  I would highly recommend coming here before you depart from Cancun.
