Steak is a staple food of Texas so you should go visit a steak house if you're here on a visit.  But not all steak houses are the same as you'll see from previous reviews compared to the restaurant I'm reviewing today, Saltgrass:

A brick building with long horns, good typical Texan decoration:

    A casual interior:

    Complimentary bread:

It came out lukewarm and on the border of dry.

    Grilled Chicken Breast:

A tad on the dry side but grill makes look good.

    New York Strip:

It looks good from the grill marks.  But the steak was fairly lean and not very juicy.  It tasted better than franchises like Applebees or TGI Friday's but not as good as chains like Ruth Chris'.  You can't even think of comparing these steaks to places like Steve Fields or Perry's.  I thought it was decent to eat but for $25 for the above and sides, it's an alright price.

Saltgrass should not be your first choice for tasting the steaks of Texas.  It's a casual environment for so-so steaks at an affordable price..  There's a lot better choices out there so skip over this restaurant.
