Anthony's Pier 4
140 Northern Avenue
Boston, MA
617-482-6262
http://www.pier4.comWe were looking for the freshest seafood in Boston and a family friend had suggested we go visit the seaport. We took the subway/bus around Boston and the seaport side isn't well built up so we had a lot of walking to do. Since it was cold and we saw a lot of cars in the parking lot, we decided to give Anthony's Pier 4 a try.
Big large contouring chairs with old 60's songs reminds me of just old this place is. They also have a lot of pictures of people that have come to this restaurant like the last 3 US Presidents and the Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian from Star Wars)
Complimentary mushrooms:
They were cold and seemed like they were soaked in vinegar.
Complimentary Bread:
All the bread were dry and tasted like a day old bread.
New England Clam Chowder:
Fresh clams and a creamy broth go well in this clam chowder.
Included salad:
The sauce was watery. Pretty flavorless.
Boiled lobster:
Soft and moist. A very interesting layout. Makes it look more like an insect.
Broiled lobster:
A tad on the dry side. The bread on top is like crushed croutons.
Swordfish:
Very moist and tender. The sauce is flavorless as well.
Cheesecake:
The cheese part is very smooth and tastes a bit like whipped cream. The crust crumbles and is very sugary.
The atmosphere is very old and most of the patrons are very old. Most of the food tends to be muted and flavorless. But all the seafood is fresh and every dish is prepared to the right temperature. The history of the restaurant is very impressive from the number of signed portraits but the food didn't really stand out to me.

I guess the act of taking pictures of restaurants and food don't faze you. I guess that's why I don't do it. Do you ever get any odd glances your way?
It does. That's why some of my pictures are blurry and I tend to use my camera phone instead of a real camera. I never use flash. That would really look bad. I've received odd glances from friends but they become more interested in my food blog.
