  • Cantina Laredo

Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Airport Terminal D
    3200 East Airfield Drive

When I think airport food the words that come to my mind are expensive and fast food.  It's expensive because rent at the airports are usually high and there's not as much competition at an airport.  Fast because people need to catch their flight.  Lately, most airports have been monitoring prices within airport establishments to encourage spending and to remove the stigma of airport shopping.

Today I'm reviewing a Mexican restaurant in Dallas/Fort Worth airport called Cantina Laredo and I'm expecting reasonable pricing and fast service:

    Complimentary Nachos:

Light and warm.  Too bad the salsa that came with it was so watery/

    Gucamole:

The nachos were too thin so most of them broke while trying to scoop up some guacamole.  It may have been made fresh  so you have nice chunks of avocado.  Most of it is avocado, which is good, but it tasted like it was missing ingredients like lime juice or hot chilli pepper.  At around $8 it's pricey.

    Beef Soft Taco:

Came out relatively cold.  Dinner dishes came out really slow, taking more than half an hour.  The beef was awful so see below for a close up.  For $12 it's an expensive dish.

    Close up of the Beef:

Thin and hard just like beef jerky.  It was a really bad beef taco.

Poor quality food and slow service at an airport restaurant is a really bad thing.  Previous experiences were not as bad but this time it left me with a really bad taste in my mouth.  I would avoid this restaurant.
