Situated in the Greek area of Toronto, Katsu Sushi stands out with its in your face restaurant logo and neon lighting.

A cozy interior with a nice tree in the centre:

In the evening, for $17, you can have all-you-can eat sushi/sashimi/rolls from a special menu.  From this menu, here are a couple of items we ordered:

    The customary salad:

Vegetable (6 pieces) and Shrimp Tempura (order by piece):

Tempura are battered to a reasonable level.  The tempura is infused with the vegetable or shrimp so you can't easily pull off the tempura.  That's a good thing if you like tempura - a bad thing is you just want to eat the shrimp inside.

    Teriyaki Beef:

Hearty pieces of teriyaki steak that's prepared medium-well done which is a bit on the chewy side but not overdone.

California, Spicy Salmon, BBQ Eel, and Tempura Rolls:

Nothing spectacular here.  I think the fried foods took the centerstage in this buffet.  They are fresh and not evenly round but were not too loose.

    Pork Cutlet:

The pork is moist and juicy.  The outside is hot and crispy.  The oil is a bit heavy probably from lots of use.

Japanese Dumplings, Tempura Tofu, and another Tempura Shrimp:

The buffet menu has only a small has a small selection of common fishes (they don't even have tuna on)and simple rolls.  They make up for this with a relatively large menu of fried and hot things like wings, various tempura, and various teriyaki meats.  So it turns out that half the menu is cold and half the menu is hot.  Lunches have an even smaller selection of rolls and fishes (cut by half) but the price is lower to match.

    Kobe Sashimi combo:

Here you can find some of the fishes you can't get in the buffet menu.  For around $18, it's more costly than a buffet but probably more healthy.

    A dirty washroom:

The men's stall is right beside the sink so it's uncomfortable to wash your hands while someone's using the stall.  The mop in that corner doesn't look good.  There is a lot of grime every corner of the toilet room.  The toilet, itself, looked clean though.

Katsu Sushi has a good selection of fried and hot Japanese items for buffet but their raw fishes and rolls selection is really bad, especially during the lunch time.  All the fishes were fresh and hot items were prepared fresh as well (but frying oil tasted a bit old).  The washroom should be avoided.  I would recommend a visit here if you're into hot Japanese foods and probably for lunch as the hot food menu doesn't shrink too much compared to the dinner menu.
