  • House of Dim Sum

Being in Texas for so long, we were on the look out for authentic tasting Chinese dim sum for breakfast.  There weren't many choices at 10:30am in the morning on a weekday.  We'd already put money into the parking meter for 1h ($6 USD for San Francisco downtown parking) so we were commited to finding food soon.

We stumbled into one a couple minutes into our walk called House of Dim Sum.  We saw people eating through the window so we figure it might be a safe choice:

A very typical China Town restaurant with cheap wooden chairs and tables.  The building is fairly old and run down.  It does look a little filthy. This is the front ordering counter where you select the pre-made dim sum you want and they microwave it for you.

They have seating area upstairs too but I think it's more dirty than the main floor's.

Some steamed black bean short ribs, radish blocks, and pork dumplings:

Beef in noodles and shrimp dumplings

    Spring rolls:

Close up of the black bean short ribs:

One of the black beans between the short ribs turned out to be a fly:

All our food came out to around $7.50 USD and all of it tasted lukewarm as it wasn't in the microwave long enough.  The food did taste authentic and even the random insect inside the food gave it that China Town feel.  The fly did gross us out so we ate around it and saved it to show the owners.  The owners said they didn't know how it got in there and that it must've just flew in when they were preparing the food.  I didn't ask for my money back as $7USD was not worth the effort and I really didn't want more.  It's a filthy place with microwaved food.  I couldn't recommend this place to anyone.  Stay away from this one.
