http://www.north44restaurant.comIf you're planning to celebrate a special occasion with a special someone, then North 44 might be for you.
The exterior of North 44 is very cold with its sardine can metal side panels. If I didn't know anything about this place and didn't read any reviews, I would probably have avoided this restaurant. There were a few orange coat valets at the door so I didn't take any pictures.
A very classy interior:

The interior is very nice and lighted dimly. There is a second floor to host parties. Remember to dress well so avoid blue jeans and anything ripped is a no-no.
An assortment of bread:

They had the standard slices of baton bread, bread sticks, raisin bread, and olive bread. I don't like olives so I didn't take a liking to the olive bread.
Lobster Bisque:

The lobster bisque was very rich and goes great with the bread. There was a decent helping of lobster inside.
Dungeoness Crab Ravioli:

Soft ravoli with a nice helping of soft dungeoness crab meat. Be careful while biting into the ravoli as we found a couple pieces of crab shell inside. This dish has a very muted flavor so if you're looking for something to overwhelm your taste buds, this isn't the dish for you.
Pan Seared Bison Tenderlion:

The bison tenderlion is so soft you don't need a steak knife to cut it. The inside is prepared very red but doesn't bleed. The outside of the bison is very flavorful and compliments the natural bison taste inside. As the waitress pointed out, the bison doesn't have a lot of "game" taste to it. Below the bison is a carmealized onion ravioli. Carmealized onion can't compare to the dungeoness crab meat.
Dessert:

A delicious brownie, a red jello, green lime and orange candy, and two raspberries. The brownie was the best with it's thick chewy chocolate texture.
Washroom:

The washroom is at the lower floor down a narrow and steep flight of stairs. The men's sink features an unorthodox sink that resembles the urinal in some restaurants in Europe. Right now I forget whether turning clockwise or counter-clockwise turned on the faucet. I wish they kept the washroom traditional.
Our server was well informed offering very good suggestions and attentive by coming to our table frequently. The main dishes took a bit of time but we were nicely offered seconds on our bread assortment. Our dinner came out to $100 for two so it was reasonable. We didn't order any wine but if they offer a very wide selection of wines. As usual, most selections only come in bottles. Bottles of wine range in price from $50 to over $1000.
If you plan to visit North 44, I recomment making reservations as the restaurant quickly gets busy. I read some unfavorable reviews of Summerlicious at North 44 so I recommend visiting on a "regular" day.

North 44 is da bestest restaurant in my opinion. okay... maybe it's not the bestest, but it's definitely my favourite restaurant.
i fell in
with olive bread because of them.
for Summer/Winterlicious, they were awesome the first year they were in it. it was Winterlicious, the food was so good, and both my best friend and i almost died because the food was so good and there was so much of it. the following Summerlicious, they overcompensated in reducing dish sizes that they ended up with extremely small portions. in the past few iterations, they've gotten better at it, but to truly appreciate North 44, people really do need to shell out the dough and go on a regular day.
they also used to serve this white bean pate with the bread that was so good and so different from your standard butter or hummus, but they've since stopped serving that. boo!
