Back when I was in university, the local plaza's best chain restaurant was East Side Mario's (ESM) so we went often went there for special occasion (like those times we celebrated the end of the midterm period).  Since graduating I've rarely been to an ESM as there aren't a lot of them around Toronto.

In the last year ESM has opened at least 2 1 restaurants in areas I drive by often, Don Mills & Steeles Ave. E and McCowan & Hwy 7.

ESM decorated to stand out from the bland usual places (typical of a big chain, think McDonald's):

A very busy looking interior with basic wooden tables and chairs:

    Linguine Chicken Amatriciana:

A good amount of tomatoes and linguine.  They really held back on the chicken.  I only recall 3-5 pieces of chicken.  A bad deal for around $8 since the material cost isn't high and quality is just decent.

    Seafood Linguine:

You can count the shrimp in this dish.  Very minimal sauce as well.  For $9-10, it's a biit pricey for what you get.

I guess at least the dishes came to us very fast.  Both our plates came in less than 10 minutes for lunch.  Lunch was very quiet in the restaurant and there were very few patrons.  Accordingly, the restaurant is staffed very minimally with 1-2 girls serving the entire restaurant (about 10 tables).  I've been to ESM for dinner so I recommend coming to ESM more for dinner than its lunch selection.
