Auberge du Pommier
4150 Yonge St.
Toronto Ontario
M2P 2C6Winterlicious is upon Toronto and if you haven't made your reservations yet, you're probably too late. I hope I can visit everyone of the better restaurants on the Winterlicious list. These restaurants are nice enough to give everyone a chance to sample a few of their dishes for a fixed price of $15/20 for lunch and $25/35 for dinner.
One of restaurants on the list is Auberge du Pommier. It is beautiful restaurant situated in North Toronto serving French cuisine:

The inside is a cozy stone built cottage:

The seats are comfortable and well kept:

Caramelized onion tart, compliments of the chef:

Homard Glacage: butter poached lobster, citrus salad

The artichoke sauce was very good with the lobster. The lobster was fairly stringy. I believe it was the claw of the lobster. The citrus salad was light and I liked the subtle citrus flavour. The overal dish is for people with a lighter appetite.
Veau Pouche: milk poached veal tenderlion, truffle pommes puree

The veal was very smooth and soft. I could cut it with my butter knife. It was tender but was fairly well done. The truffle pommes puree was something different for me. For me it tasted like some type of internal organ. Maybe like from a duck but I know it's a fungi. It was well prepared with a light fried coating to give it a nice crunch texture. The creme celeriac served as a slight different tasting mashed potato substitute for me so the dish is good for people with a medium appetite.
The washroom are located down a narrow stair. It was a sharp contrast to everything in the restaurant. It was not well kept with puddles of water surrounding the sink and there was a urine odor

The ambiance is amazing at this restaurant and I highly recommend it as part of a romantic evening. The front desk service was prompt and very warm with complimentary coat check. It was fairly busy in the evening so I recommend making reservations at least earlier in the day. The service was very good at the beginning of the evening when it wasn't as busy. In a sharp contrast to Canoe, generally only one person will attend to you. Service quickly deteriorated after we ordered our main dishes and the restaurant began to fill up. Dinner for two came out to $110 with wine including tax but without tips.
Eric Tummy Points: 4.5 out of 5
An added note, I realize how odd it is to take photos in fancy restaurants. So I hope you can bear with the less than perfect photos.
