Ruby Chinese Restaurant
1571 Sandhurst Circle
Scarborough, ON M1V 1V2There are a few large Cantonese restaurants in Toronto. In the spring and summer season, they are frequently booked for weddings and other large functions. One of them is Ruby Chinese Restaurants:

Large interior to support large functions or many small ones through movable walls:

I went to Ruby for afternoon lunch (dim sum). Unlike smaller restaurants that use a checklist, food at Ruby is usually ordered from carts being pushed around the restaurant as well as a couple tables set up at the front of the restaurant.
Fried shrimp dumpling:

Chicken feet with steamed ribs:

Ham, chicken, and baby corn wrapped in bean curd:

The classic "ha gow":

Overall the dim sum dishes are well prepared but lack the variety found at smaller restaurants. A drawback to ordering off carts is most dishes are warm and would not be considered steaming hot. I would consider the food predictable and a safe choice to bringing non-Chinese friends to try dim sum.
