Takara Bune Japanese Restaurant
2450 Sheppard Ave. East
Toronto, Ontario
(416) 491-6688I'm always looking for a good Japanese restaurant so if I'm in a certain area, I know where to go for a great spicy salmon roll or a california roll. This time I'm around the Victoria Park and Sheppard area and a friend recommended Takara Bune.
It's part of a plaza at Victoria Park and Sheppard but has it's own entrance. The plaza looks old and ugly but the restaurant looks nice. It's small inside but decorated well, looking like any other Japanese restaurant.

We ordered california rolls and rainbow rolls:

The california rolls uses a chunk of artificial crab meat. I prefer minced crab meat like from T&T. The avocado is soft in both rolls so it's very ripe and good. The salmon, tuna, and white fish on the rainbow rolls seem fresh. I just wish I could've added some tempura bits to the rainbow roll. California rolls around about $5 while rainbow roll is about $7.
I was quite surprised at the quality of the rolls. From the appearance of the plaza, I would never have considered coming to this restaurant. I recommend giving this restaurant a try if you're in the area. I don't know how crowded lunches are but dinner time is easy to find a table.
