  • Cool River Cafe

Another fine restaurant in Texas and not in Toronto.  For my last day on my current project, my team let choose the places to eat for the week and Cool River was my choice for my last lunch:

    Welcoming exterior:

The interior is a dining area as well as a bar area:

    Calamari:

These are the lightly battered and soft type of calamari.  If you're looking for crunchy and chew then this is not the place to get this dish.  I liked the chopped jalapeno with the calamari to give it a sweet and hot taste.

    Smoked Pork Sandwich:

    Crispy Chicken Pecan Salad:

I love avocado and crispy chicken so I have a warm spot for this salad.  Avocado is room temperature and soft.  You can taste that the crispy chicken was not made to order.  It was slightly cool.  Most people will not like the heavy dressing or the low quality of greens used.

I found the quality of the food to be a bit above average.  For the price of $12 for salad and ~$6 for calamari, Cool River is on the pricy side.  I would come here occasionally because it is good food.
