Jack in the Box
Living in a hotel for more than half of the week subjects you to more fast food than one would naturally have. The closest restaurant to the hotel is a Jack in the Box.
Thinking I'd get something healthy, I immediately scanned their menu for salads. I found one that my friend also suggested, the Southwest Chicken Salad:

For some reason I was expecting fried chicken. Southwest just reminds me of KFC somehow. Everything was pre-packaged and just brought out of a refrigerator. It came with some unhealthy spicy crackers to put ontop and ranch-like dressing. I tried to keep the dressing to a minimal.
The lettuce and tomatoes were not very crisp so you can tell it's been sitting for a while. The spicy crackers definitely made the salad. If you separated all the elements of the salad each part would taste pretty bad since it wasn't all that fresh. But somehow mixing it all together made it pretty good. I was surprised. I really liked the spicy crackers and that make the dressing a bit spicy. The beans, cheese, and corn worked well with everything.
Overall I would have this salad again. For $4.99 USD I don't think you should be asking for the too much. It's a good alternative to the usual hamburger.

i like your restaurant reviews! you've given me some good ideas as to where to go to eat, esp. in Toronto.
the thing about salads is, i always feel kinda gyped buying them from a restaurant because i know i can make it all fresh and crisp at home.
MMMM southwest checkin salad is sooo goood. You usually have a choice between grilled, crispy, or no chicken with it so its not always those cold chicken bits. over all i found it the best salad compared to others!
