I was desiring pasta and I was in Toronto so we decided to go by the Old Spaghetti Factory down at Church and Esplanade.

The inside is very confusing.  They tried to look like a carnival, as you can see from the carousal.  It actually reminded me of a casino floor where it confuses you and forces you to look up at the shiny lights.  Too bad this place extends the floor to everything.  We sat in the small trolley car like area so it was nice and cozy.

Our meals came with a choice of soup or salad and dessert.  I ordered the minestrone soup.  It tasted like the tomato alphabet soup that my mom use to make me in the winter after I shovelled the snow.  The only thing better with this one was the extra veggies inside.

There were a number of Italian dishes on the menu but seeing this is the spaghetti factory, i decided to order a spaghetti dish.  I like tomatoes but I like meat at the same time so I got a the Manager's Special of two sauces over a dish of spaghetti.  The waitress recommended browned butter & cheese and the meat sauce but i like tomatoes more so i went with spicy meat and tomato.

The tomato sauce was very processed so it like from a can.  The meat sauce has meat but also very small and processed.  I think I like chunkier sauce so I can see tomatos in the sauce.  I guess I'm use to tomato basil on spaghetti more than spaghetti sauce.  I found my dish alright.  Nothing very special and nothing that you or your mom couldn't cook up at home.

For dessert we got ice cream.  The choices were vanilla, chocolate, or this combination of strawberry, chocolate, and pistashio ice cream.  I chose the one with the 3 flavours.  It tasted like Napolean ice cream in the end.

For $15 per person, it wasn't as value competitive compared to East Side Mario'sEast Side Mario's also has a better menu selection.  But at least at the Old Spaghetti Factory there is little worry of waiting in line.  There's no reason to recommend this restaurant over East Side Mario's but this place isn't bad.
