Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill
55 Mill Street, Building #62
Toronto ON, M5A 3C4Two weeks back I took an old friend out to celebrate her graduation. We've been to a couple places so we decided to try out something in the Brewery District. One of the well known restaurants is the Pure Spirits.
There was a short wait for a table which passed quicky after wandering around the area looking at "art".
We started our dinner with half a dozen of oysters. They claim to have the most fresh oysters in Toronto so we had to give them a shot.

I wasn't too impressed with the size of the oysters but they didn't have too much of an ocean taste. They actually didn't have much taste at all to me. They tasted watery and smooth. I don't recommend ordering them.
Next was our main course. My friend ordered a snapper while I ordered cod.

The snapper was a very brittle fish. Not a lot of the taste from the sauce infused with the fish. It wasn't my meal so I didn't get a chance to taste much of this.

I liked the sunflower crust on my cod. Cod is a much thicker meat fish so the sauce did soak into the fish and tasted good. The stuff below the fish reminded me a lot of the mango salsa you get at Thai restaurants and I did enjoy it. The chips didn't add too much to the taste of the dish though.
We didn't have dessert at Pure Spirits and opted to go somewhere else. The meal came out to about $50 per person so it's not very value priced for the food you get. We did eat outside so it was nice. There isn't too much to do in the Brewery District as well so you won't be "just dropping by" this restaurant. It's a bit pricy but it did taste good so I recommend it for light eaters.

Yep very small potions but all fancy expensive places have small potions. I'm going to miss the US. :(
Oh yeah i guess officially it's called the Distillery District.
Oceany... I guess it's worst than I had originally thought then :)
