  • Akasaka Japanese Restaurant #2

When I think of good Japanese food in Toronto, all I can think of is Akasaka.  So we went there for dinner a past Sunday.

Something different we noticed was they served green tea noodle sticks.  They also have some non-green tea ones that are yellow.

We were pretty hungry so we munched on them.  My sis and mom like the green ones more.  I found it alright.  If you eat enough of them, you can taste the slight spicy taste.

My sis ordered volcano rolls and I ordered some kalbi rolls.

I liked the volcano rolls.  It was like a california roll but with salmon, a crunchy texture, and spicy mayo.

I like kalbi ribs so I thought my roll would taste good.  Too bad I didn't like the cabbage (kim chi) in my roll too much.  It was a good experiment but I would not try it again.

My mom ordered the most interesting dish.  It was fried flounder.  You can see a picture of it at the bottom right.

It was amazing how they fried the fish and shaped the bone that way.  The meat was very tender while the bone was almost crispy enough to eat.  All the meat chunks didn't have bones so people scared of bones need not worry.

You'll need to like nibbling the bones because some of them are cripsy enough to eat.

I also ordered a terrayaki salmon with our meal but it wasn't too special.

The meal was fairly light but I did enjoy the different things we tried this time around.  I wouldn't order the kalbi rolls or the fried flounder again but I do recommend people try the fried flounder at least once.

I would definitely go back and try some different things.
