Congee in NYC
I get to eat a lot of different foods because I travel for work. But eating out has its bad side - the food I eat might not be as healthy as things you eat at home. Today I decided to have something different and more healthy.

I have a mixed ("tang jai" in Cantonese) congee ("jok" in Cantonese) for lunch.
If you've had this congee at other places then you know what goes inside is based on where you got it.
Mixed really means throw whatever into it. I was told that long time ago, fishermen use to make this from whatever was left over, which is where "tang jai" part of the name comes from - it means small boat.
This place we went to put a lot of different meats like duck and roast pork. That doesn't sound too healthy but it was surrounded by rice so I'm safe.
I felt good after eating it and it wasn't too heavy. I recommend for anyone feeling under the weather.

i love tang jai jok, but not when they put a lot of duck and roast pork. actually, i thought tang jai jok is a seafood congee.
i don't like watching baseball on tv, but in person, it's alright. so i was definitely there for the game.. but having good company doesn't hurt.
