Johnny Rockets

If you've been to Vaughan Mills you'd have seen Johnny Rockets. It's a burger joint that is furnished like it's from the 60's. There's always a line up but is it actually that good?
You might not be a burger fan but I'm sure you've had that occasional craving for fries or a big slab of meat hugged by two pieces of bread. It's important to know where to go when you feel for it.
There wasn't a line up as there usually is an Vaughn Mills at lunch time but the diner was quite busy. We got a quick seat and they gave us two nickels for the little juke box to listen to some old tunes. Too bad the coin slot of jammed. I'm not sure it even works if it wasn't jammed. Hitting the keypad on the thing seemed to sink the whole thing in. How can it even figure out what you pressed???? I guess for 5 cents you can't be picky.

Having driven 2 hours to get here, I was in a hungry state and ordered a Double Rocket with a side order of 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings.
The fries and onion rings arrived first. The fries were cold but I was hungry so I quickly ate it. The waitress had squited some ketchup onto a egg carton type tray. She made it look like a smiley face. I asked my sister to pass me the bottle of ketchup. The onion rings were fine. Not too oil but it tasted like the ones you get at Burger King. I prefer the ones from Harvey's. The ranch dip that came with the dish was alright. I used it for the onion rings.
Next came my Double Rocket. It was hot and wrapped in wax paper. Wrapping things in wax paper hides the amount of oil from the eyes. It doesn't hide it from the hands to you can feel the dripping oil. OK, i guess you can see that puddle of oil and grease too.
It came with some type of cheese inside and "secret sauce". Everyone's "secret sauce" seems to taste like McDonald's secret sauce in their Big Macs. If you want to try some more secret sauce you can go to Burger King and order their King Burger.
The meat was very soft and didn't have a crisp layer where the burger was on the grill. It was real ground beef and not one of those pre-shaped patties you get from Lick's or the grocery store. I was really liking it until my sister pointed at how pink it was. Since I was hungry I decided to eat around the pink so I threw away 1/6 of the burger.
My sister doesn't like burgers so she ordered chilli. For some reason she expected the ones like Wendy's. This was not that. It didn't have solid beans inside. So how can it be chilli without the beans? The beans are what made that brown sauce. It's a puddle of pulverized beans with grease. And you can definitely see that grease along the sides of the bowl. My sister took a couple spoons of that stuff and gave up. It came with some nice hexagon crackers so I used the chilli as a drip for the crackers. That went well until I ran out of cracker so I gave up as well.
After the whole meal I didn't feel good. Too much grease is not good for the body. I don't know if it was mind over matter so I grossed myself out from seeing the grease or it was actually that bad. I would not recommend going to Johnny Rockets unless you like consuming lots of grease.
